We’ve published our quarterly update on permit processing timeframes for January to March 2026. A sharp rise in the number and complexity of minerals permit applications is putting renewed pressure on our target timeframes, and some new applications may take longer than expected. We also highlight practical steps applicants can take to support timely decisions.
From 1 July 2026, GST will be added to Energy Resource Levy payments. Levy rates stay the same, with GST charged on top.
Permit holders have until Tuesday, 31 March 2026 to submit their 2025 annual summary reports for minerals permits.
Newly released permitting data shows a strengthening exploration and mining pipeline, with record levels of mineral permit applications received and outcome decisions made in 2025.
