Upcoming changes to royalty rates
To maintain the value of the return to the Crown from the extraction of Crown owned minerals, royalty rates listed in the Minerals Programme for Minerals (excluding Petroleum) 2008 will be increasing.
These royalty rates have not been adjusted since the 2008 royalty regime came into effect. They will be adjusted according to the Producer Price Index, which has increased 27.07% since 2008. They have been rounded to the nearest cent.
The new rates are shown in the table below and will take effect from 1 January 2023.
